Dean

Dean landed about 12:00 on the Gulf coast a considerable distance North of here and is heading Northwest, so Xalapa is experiencing Dean only at its periphery. This time tomorrow the whole thing should have passed.

Here in Xalapa the winds have picked up a bit around mid day, after experiencing only occasional light gusts since about 9:00 last evening. Intermittent rain also began about 9:00 last evening and steady rain began about 9:30 this morning. It is not what I would call a heavy rain, it is a rain from which an umbrella provides an adequate defense for an hour’s stroll around town.

UPDATE - By four this afternoon the rain had stopped and there is no wind.

  • Was wonder where you were with regards to the landfall of Dean. Good to hear your ok.

  • Hey Shu,

It’s very nice to hear from you.

Did you notice that in my sidebar picture I’m wearing an Outlaw Days t-shirt?

  • I’m glad to hear that Dean turned into a rehearsal or maybe a hurricane drill for you too. At least it got me to pickup all the stray stuff in my yard. I am so relieved!

  • Hi Theresa,

I was glad to hear that Dean hit the Yucatan at one of the more sparsely populated areas and that it minimally impacted Merida.

Here the impacts were hardly noticeable. Just a bit of wind and a steady, but not torrential, rain for a day.

Someday I hope to experience a hurricane up close.

  • Yes I did. I was wondering when the “Safety First ” shirt will get world wide attention. What’s up with the font?

  • The fonts look fine to me. What browser are you using? Microsoft Internet Explorer apparently sometimes has problems rendering the blog.

One of my other five readers wrote to indicate the text was huge. As it turned out everything looked normal using Firefox, the problem was with IE.

    Saludos a todo.
