Iran

I hope Commander in Fact Cheney, and his fellow psychopathic neo-fascist travelers advocating the bombing of Iran, reads this Washington Post commentary by Akbar Ganji, “an Iranian journalist and dissident, [who] was in Evin Prison from 2000 to 2006. He received the 2007 John Humphrey Freedom Award, a Canadian human rights and pro-democracy prize. This column was translated from Farsi by Nilou Mobasser.”

Cheney and his ilk tell us that Iran has nuclear ambitions and, thus, the USA should “bomb, bomb, bomb - bomb, bomb, Iran” as McCain put it.

Why don’t Iranians have the same right to nuclear weaponry as does the USA, Great Britain, Russia (and who knows which of the other former Soviet republics), France, and China; as well as Israel, Pakistan, and India, USA allies which have not ratified the international non-proliferation treaties?

The USA, the only nation to have ever used nuclear weapons and the owner of the worlds largest nuclear arsenal, has no moral standing to lecture the rest of the world, let alone regulate it, with respect to the development and maintenance of nuclear weaponry.

According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni “….said a few months ago in a series of closed discussions that in her opinion that Iranian nuclear weapons do not pose an existential threat to Israel, Haaretz magazine reveals in an article on Livni….”

The fact is that Cheney’s agitations have nothing to do with Iranians supposed peruance of nuclear weapons, which is simply the handiest pretense.

Those advocating the conquering of Iran, it seems to me, are driven by the same motivations which drove them to advocate conquering Iraq - rendering the Middle East into pandemonium so as to further eliminate Israeli military competition and to facilitate access to its oil by multi-national oil interests.

10-28-07 addition:

I happened upon this report today which seems to put the lie to the Cheney administration’s claims that Iran is manufacturing the “EFPs (explosively formed penetrators)” used in Iraq.

  • Hi,

    I just discoved your blog.
I particular like your choice of words. Example:
    “fellow psychopathic neo-fascist travelers”.
    Excellent.
And some of the websites on your”Links” are new to me.
I am looking forward to checking them out.

    Thanks, Andee

  • Welcome Andee,

Thanks for looking in and for your kind comment.

I know there are those who believe calling Cheney a psychopath or fascist amounts to nothing more the extreme hyperbole.

However, psychopaths are those who lack a conscience, such as those raining terror on innocent Middle Easterners. Additionally, one of the characteristics of fascism is the melding of government and corporations.

    Thanks again, and take care.
