Question

I have packed the laptop which I normally use, for my trip to Oaxaca, and so have fired up my older Dell.

The blog is not rendering properly. Specifically, the links above the header photo are rendering in three lines, rather than two lines on my little Sony, and my countdown to the end of the Bush administration is mostly above the header photo, with only “the Cheneypaths” below the photo. With my Sony it is all below the photo. The Dell has extra wide margins, both using Firefox and IE7.

I am wondering how it is rendering for my five readers and will appreciate report and suggestions.

  • With Firefox 2.0.0.1.1, it depends on how you set the font size. Playing with control+ or control-, smaller font sizes render as per your laptop and larger font sizes render as per your Dell.

On IE7.0.5730.11, it is as per your laptop, regardless of font size.

The margins are a bit wider with Firefox than IE, but not enough that I would have noticed it.

In either case, the overall appearance looks fine to me.

    Have a good trip!

  • It looks fine to me. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, and Firefox 3 beta 2 is my browser.

Look forward to reports from Oaxaca; we’ve talked about going there but wonder whether the political situation has calmed down enough.

  • Thanks very much Dan and Neil. I will try to provide regular reports and photos of my trip.

    Thanks again.

There were other problems with the Dell so my project today is reformatting and am reinstalling everything.

  • Now that I have reformatted the hard drive; reloaded Windows ME, which came on the machine; reloaded Windows XP upgrade; and downloaded Foxfire it all looks fine.

    Thanks again.
