The Neocons: An Illustrated Progression

The Washington Post has posted an interesting illustration tracking the development of prominent “neo-conservatives” from “Leon Trotsky and the anti-Stalinist Left” to the present. The illustration accompanies and article by Jacob Heilbrunn 5 Myths About Those Nefarious Neocons.

I was led to the article and illustration by Steve Clemmons at his excellent blog The Washington Note.

    Wow, That’s a handy chart.

    Hey El Macho,

You can’t know the neo-fascists without a program. I see Strauss, who spent his incontinence at St. Johns, is near the root.

Is it true that Strauss went through Machiavelli books counting the numbers in an attempt to discover their hidden meaning?

    Saludos a todos.

I have no idea what Leo Strauss thought or taught. Straussianism always seemed like a weird cult, like Lyndon Larouchianism or Hugo Chavez’s “Bolivarian” movement. It’s sad that that bunch of losers got the ear of Rumsfeld and Cheney, and poor old George Bush. (To be fair, Strauss was long gone by then.)

Nice tatoo. Don’t get pierced, though.

In case you didn’t see it and you’re interested I found this piece on Wolfowitz really fascinating.

I’m glad you like the tattoo. Be assured, I have no piercing plans.
