US Open

I’m not what one would consider a great golf fan, having not played since my high school days some forty years back; but wow, was the 2008 US Open exciting.

I had never heard of Rocco Mediate before Saturday when I tuned into third round play, but what a great guy he seems to be. What with his ready smile; his unorthodoxed, thrashing swing; his residence amidst professional golf’s geezerhood; his playing the fourth round sporting a peace symbol belt buckle; and the laying of his chin upon his caddies shoulder while awaiting Woods’ final putt in the sudden death playoff, the guy exudes class and ease. As if a name like Rocco isn’t enough in itself.

I suppose it is too much to expect that Woods would be delayed in the least in his march toward golfing history; but damed it would have been fun if Rocco had won.

Mi grande amigo…I was privileged to have attended the 2008 Open with my son Miles.
It was a Fathers Day I will never forget.
We enjoyed our visit to SanDiego and you know my style…..the best. I was next door to Steven Speilberg whom I never saw but the old hippy left a piss trail in the parking lot filled with BMW, Mercedes and the like…was scolded by my son for doing so and told him ..”that makes it all the more appealing.”

  • Wow, I had forgotten that you were scheduled to go. Did you stay through the playoff?

    Saludos a todos.
