Guantanamo - “American Madrassa”
McClathcy continues its excellent series on the USA gulags. Today’s installment recounts how Guantanamo radicalized prisoners, many of whom associated themselves for the first time with al Queda and the Taliban after their releases.

Chris-Suspected this was the reality of Guantanamo and that the outcome would only make more hard core radical Islamists. It definitely does not inspire confidence in the US’s ability to wage an effective “War on Terror.”

Hey Glen,
The McClatchy series continues, today focusing on the former Taliban’s ambassador to Pakistan.
Having recently read Black Hawk Down, it is clear that the USA political and military policy makers continue to make the kinds of mistakes made in Somalia. Mistakes, it seems to, which stem from ignorance and arrogance.
Hopefully, come next January we will see positive changes made to the failed approaches pursued by the Clinton and Bush administrations.
Saludos
